Getting help
Response time: same day, most days
Smart Kitchen Docs is a small operation, and support goes straight to the person who builds it. Email dylan@smartevguides.com with your kitchen's name and what happened. Screenshots help more than descriptions.
If it's a piece of equipment that's down right now, don't wait on us. Call your service company. The app is a reference tool, not a technician — anything involving gas, refrigerant or line voltage belongs to a certified professional.
Common questions
How do I sign in?
Your kitchen has a single access code that everyone shares. Enter it once and the app remembers it. If you don't have it, ask your manager, or email us and we'll re-issue it to the kitchen.
The app doesn't have my unit.
Use Identify and photograph the data plate. If the manual isn't in the library yet, the app will say so and link the manufacturer's resources. Email us the make and model and we'll source it — that's a normal part of the pilot, not a bug.
Where is the data plate on this thing?
Almost always in one of four places: behind the bottom grill, inside the door frame, on the back panel near the cord, or under the drip tray. The app shows a location hint for the type of unit you're adding. If the plate is worn past reading, type the model number in instead.
An answer looks wrong.
Tap the citation first — it opens the actual manual page the answer came from, so you can see what it was working with. If the page doesn't support the answer, flag it in the app. Those reports go straight into the test set, and the fix ships to everyone.
Can I add our own documents?
Yes — upload a PDF from inside the app and it becomes searchable and citable alongside the manufacturer manuals. Scanned or photographed manuals need to come through us: in-app upload reads text-based PDFs only. Email the scans and we'll run them through the pipeline that reads images.
Why did it tell me to call a technician?
Because the question touched gas, refrigerant or line voltage. The app will still give you what the manual says about the symptom, but it will not walk you through the repair. That's deliberate.
Do maintenance reminders work without signal?
Yes. Reminders are scheduled on the phone itself, so they fire whether or not the kitchen's Wi-Fi is up. Asking a question needs a connection.
Getting your kitchen set up
Onboarding during the pilot is hands-on: we visit, inventory the equipment off the data plates, source the manuals, load your own documents, and walk one person through the app in person. If you'd like that for your kitchen, book a walkthrough.
